KVLU to host Southern Charm holiday

Public radio station 91.3 KVLU announced this week that plans are in place for a trip in conjunction with Collette Travel exploring the magic of the south during the holiday season. Travelers will experience the history, charm and singular hospitality of the Low Country in Georgia and South Carolina fully adorned for the holidays December 6 – 11.

The trip will begin with two nights at the exclusive Jekyll Island Club, once described as “the richest, most exclusive club in the world, ” followed by visits to one of America’s oldest plantations, Boone Hall, charming Beaufort, historic Savannah and Antebellum Charleston. The holiday spirit will be topped off with a drive through James Island County Park illuminated with over 500,000 lights and Santa’s Village where visitors may roast marshmallows by an open fire.

Those interested are invited to an informational meeting in the Dishman Art Museum Lecture Hall at 4:00 p.m. June 10. The Museum is located at 1030 E. “This marks the 10th year KVLU is pleased to sponsor another exciting travel adventure,” said station manager Byron Balentine. “Our holiday trip to New York City last year was such a big hit that we wanted to share another unique holiday experience.”

The cost of the trip is $2,249 if booked by July 6, for double rates and includes airfare, 8 meals and first-class accommodations. The deadline to make reservations is Oct. 7. A complete itinerary of the six-day excursion with full details is available at http://www.kvlu.org.

91.3 KVLU is a public radio station licensed to Lamar University with broadcast studios located on the main campus. KVLU serves a five-county region and is in its 41st year of service to Southeast Texas.
