Nichols and Phelan Congratulate Lamar-Orange

Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) and Representative Dade Phelan (R-Beaumont) would like to recognize Lamar State College-Orange (LSCO) on receiving a $10 million tuition-backed revenue bond (TRB) to fund a much needed multi-purpose education building on the LSCO campus.

"This new multi-purpose building will help Lamar State College - Orange reach even more students through larger lecture rooms and resources to ensure they are successful while in college," said Nichols. " In addition, by expanding the continuing and workforce education department, it will provide further opportunities for local industries to educate their employees."

The multi-purpose building will be used to provide space for the continuing and workforce education department on campus. This program provides non-credit student learning opportunities for the community and customized training programs for local businesses and industries.

“Tuition Revenue Bonds were a top priority for the entire Southeast Texas delegation.” Representative Phelan said. ”I am proud our efforts were successful in the passage of House Bill 100 which ensures Lamar State College – Orange will have the assets necessary to provide a quality education for tomorrow’s workforce.”

The multi-purpose building will also house the College Success program which provides resources for incoming students. It will also include space for large lecture rooms that can be utilized campus wide.
