Ms. Texas 2015 set to compete for Ms. United States

Sarah Marie Blanton, resident of Houston Heights, is set to compete in Washington D.C. during the week of June 29 – July 3 for the title of Ms. United States 2015.

Sarah won the title of Ms. Texas United States in January at the 2015 Miss Texas United States pageant in Galveston where she competed as Ms. Harris County. During the show Sarah hosted a group of ten young girls from foster care and orphanages in Houston and Galveston to be treated like princesses for the night. Donations made it possible for the little girls to get dolled up by local makeup artists, be driven around in a limo bus, and get taken to a fancy dinner and to come to the pageant to witness Sarah win her title. This was the start of her Foundation “Prince and Princess for a Night”.

Now as Ms. Texas United States, Sarah Marie Blanton has laid the ground work for her Foundation by creating events that benefit the future of homeless, neglected, foster or orphaned children in the United States. She partners with athletes, sports venues and community organizations to host children during once-in-a-lifetime events where they feel true community love and support. The Foundation promotes “Dreams are Reality” and reveals to the children their personal importance to our community and future.

“Prince and Princess for a Night is a platform that I use to mentor our youth for a positive change, “said Sarah Marie Blanton; “you cannot imagine the excitement these kids feel when they meet an athlete and spend hours by their side asking them about their family, growing up and how they personally overcame adversity. It’s a moment I am blessed to experience and my athletes share their contact information with my kids so that they too can be a part of their life as a mentor.”

Sarah has hosted multiple Foundation events in Houston working with star athletes and sports organizations including the Houston Dash and Brian Ching, The University of Houston Alumni Baseball Team with Caleb Ramsey and The Houston Astros.

“I have been very lucky to take part in many charitable organizations since winning in January.

I hosted the Houston Lymphoma Walk, was a special guest judge for the Houston Relay for Life “Mr. Relay” contest, sang the National Anthem at both the NCAA Men’s Regionals and an Astros game, met President George H.W and Barbara Bush, and finally, I was honored to be an Ambassador and support the Lone Survivor Foundation (LSF) - - a foundation so close to my heart since I am the child of a wounded veteran.

Sarah added, “The Lone Survivor Foundation restores, empowers, and renews hope for our wounded service members and their families.

I have been singing the National Anthem at local music festivals that have benefitted LSF and their new Crystal Beach Retreat Facility which they opened earlier this year.”

Sarah Marie Blanton hopes to bring back the crown as she travels to Washington D.C. with #TEAMTEXAS pageant queens including; Summer Sadiyeh - Miss Texas United States 2015, Rachel Gitomer – Miss Teen Texas United States 2015, Madison Pallanez- Miss Jr. Teen Texas 2015, Christa Bennet – Pre Teen Texas United States 2015, and Ella Pursley - Little Miss Texas United States 2015. In 2012, Texas brought home both crowns for Miss and Ms. Divisions when Whitney Miller and Dr. Corinne Devin swept the pageant.

Sarah Marie Blanton works for the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority, attends Lakewood Church and is also a Singer / Songwriter in Country Music.
