Orange County Health/Restaurant Inspections

Orange County Health Inspector James Scales made the following inspections on area businesses from June 16-30:

Senor Toro Mexican Restaurant, 1298 Main St., Vidor - Found rice and tamales at unsafe temperatures; need to date all foods inside coolers/freezers; defrosting beef/chicken in inside bucket of water; area around grill needs to be cleaned of old foods and outside wall below vents need to be cleaned of old grease. Score - 84

McDonald's #3325, 765 N. Main St., Vidor - Need to label/date all foods inside coolers; floors, walls and equipment need to be cleaned of old foods; area around fryers need to be cleaned of old grease. Score - 93

West Orange Elementary School, 2605 MLK Dr., Orange - Score - 100

West Orange Middle School, 500 N. 13th St., Orange - Score - 100

Vidor Jr. High School, 945 N. Tram Rd., Vidor - Score - 100

Quizno's Subs, 176 Strickland Dr., Orange - Score - 100

Sammy's Stop, 2016 Pine Bark Blvd., Orange - Need to date all foods inside reach-in coolers; pulled several expired foods from shelves; several gnats found at drink station; fans and ceilings inside walk-in cooler need to be cleaned of dust; slime/mold found inside ice machine; front panel of ice machine needs to be placed back on the machine; need to clean walls of public restroom. Score - 86

Texas Snostorm, 2202 MacArthur Dr., Orange - Floors very sticky; floors, walls, ceiling and storage need to be cleaned of old foods/syrup. Score - 97

Oak Forest Elementary School, 2400 Hwy. 12, Vidor - Score - 100

CVS Pharmacy #6374, 290 Strickland Dr., Orange - Foods stored on floor in back storage room; pulled several expired foods from shelves; soap needed inside restrooms; restrooms need to be cleaned; area under milk inside reach-in cooler needs to be cleaned of old milk. Score - 90

Brighter Beginnings Child, 20144 FM 1130, Mauriceville - Score - 100

Two Amigos Mexican Restaurant, 3130 16th St., Orange - Need to cover all foods; soap and towels needed at the hand washing sink; several flies found throughout; vents above fryers need to be cleaned of old grease; storage racks rusted and need to be repaired/replaced; need to organize all storage areas; replace damaged ceiling tiles and need to discard all broken/unused equipment. Score - 87

Star and Crescent Moon, 2201 W. Park Ave., Orange - Score - 100

Donut Nation, 18394 S. Hwy. 62., Orange - Found egg, sausage and boudin at unsafe temperatures; using same pan liners to bake kolaches. Score - 91

Dollar General #4330, 3024 N. 16th St., Orange - Pulled several 2014/2015 foods from the shelves; lots of training needed for staff; first in first out - found several 2014 products in back of shelves. Score - 96

Stop N Drive #21, 1510 Texas Ave., Bridge City - Need to date all foods inside coolers(sandwiches); pulled several (2013/2014/2015) expired foods from shelves; slight mold found on Slushi machines. Score - 89

Whataburger #830, 7241 IH-10 E, McLewis - Storage shelves in reach-in cooler/freezers beginning to rust. need to be repaired. Score - 97

Donut Palace, 11258 Hwy. 12, Mauriceville - Egg and sausage found at unsafe temperatures; employee drinks stored improperly inside coolers; using same pan liner to bake kolaches; foods stored below pan of water dripping from motor; several spiders found along corner of wall/ceiling; motor inside cooler dripping water into pan - need to repair; black mold found on wall at three compartment sink; vents above fryers need to be cleaned of old grease; area around flat top grill needs to be cleaned of old foods. Score - 78

Kimbo's Concessions, 8752 Hwy. 12, Mauriceville - Score - 100

Domino's Pizza, 2380 Texas Ave., Bridge City - Employee's drinks improperly stored inside reach-in cooler; gasket needs to be replaced/repaired on reach in cooler; pipes under three compartment sink dripping water and needs to be repaired. Score - 90

Exxpress Mart #1, 1745 Texas Ave., Bridge City - Pulled several expired foods from shelves. Score - 96

Texas Ave. Tavern, 1195 Texas Ave., Bridge City - Score - 100

Comfort Inn, 2321 S. Hwy. 62, Orange - Score - 100

Simply Sweet Treats, 2494 MLK Dr., Orange - Bakery moved locations to MLK Dr., next to Subway Sandwiches. No score.

The Donit Palace, 5320 N. Hwy. 105 - Found sausage at unsafe temperatures. Score - 95

Vidor Superette #2, 2410 N. Main St., Vidor - Store name and address needed on all bags of ice sold at store; inside of cappuccino machine needs to be cleaned of old foods. Score - 93

Freeway Express, 115 East Freeway, Vidor - Need to date all foods (sandwiches) inside coolers; no hot water found inside store; store restricted to sale coffee fountain drinks and Slushis; several dead roaches found throughout; no sink available for cleaning dishes; store opened without proper permits from county; ha don temporary food service e permit. Score - 83

Bar-B-Que Depot #1, 110 Old Hwy. 90, Vidor - Score - 100

Burkhart's Marina, 1802 Mississippi St., Orange - Several flies/gnats found throughout. Score - 97

Honey Stop #2, 1012 W. Park Ave., Orange - Store name and address needed on all bags of ice sold at store; pulled several expired foods from shelves; towels needed inside restroom; several gnats found at drink station; chemical stored above pet foods/food storage containers; heavy slime found inside ice machine and storage shelves for dry goods need to be cleaned of old dust/dirt; will follow-up on cleaning of store. Score - 80
