A total of 99 Lamar University student-athletes were named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for the 2015 spring semester, the conference announced today.
The honor roll includes student-athletes who participated in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field. To qualify for the honor roll, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and have been eligible to compete in a conference sport during the academic year.
Lamar had 22 student-athletes post a perfect 4.0 grade-point average during the spring semester, led by the women’s track and field team with six. The men’s track and field team had five student-athletes with a perfect GPA, followed by the LU softball team with three. The Lamar baseball team, women’s golf team and women’s tennis team each had two. The men’s golf team and women’s basketball team each had one student-athlete with a 4.0 GPA.
Overall, the baseball team had 21 student-athletes on the honor roll. The women’s track and field squad placed 19 members on the roll, followed by the men’s track and field team with 13. Softball saw 12 of its student-athletes honored, followed by the women’s basketball team with nine members. The men’s and women’s golf teams and the men’s and women’s tennis teams each had five student-athletes on the honor roll.
Lamar’s Wenny Cheng, the Southland Conference Women’s Golfer of the Year, and Michael Feucht, the conference’s Men’s Tennis Player of the Year, were among those on the honor roll.

Softball - Baylie Comeaux, Soph., 3.00, Exercise Science and Sarah Ragsdale, Jr., 4.00, Exercise Science, both of Orange.
