LU, UCA Game Picked Up By ESPN3

Lamar University’s football game against Central Arkansas will be televised on ESPN3 – the network’s online platform – announced Southland Conference officials Monday afternoon. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, from Provost Umphrey Stadium.

It will be the fifth time in the past six games that Big Red has been televised. LU’s game at No. 4 Baylor was televised on Fox Sports Net, while the Southland games at No. 3 Sam Houston State and No. 22 Southeastern Louisiana were televised on the American Sports Network. LU’s victory over Abilene Christian was also televised on the ESPN3.

The Cards are 2-2 (.500) in televised games this season picking up wins at No. 3 Sam Houston State and against Abilene Christian.

The Cardinals enter the week with a 3-2 (.600) overall record, and a 2-1 mark in Southland games. LU is currently tied for fourth in the league standings just a game back of Sam Houston State in the win column. The Bears are 3-2 (.600) on the season, and one of only two schools still undefeated in Southland contests (3-0).

The Cardinals are winless against UCA dropping all four contests played between the two schools, although the past two years the games have gone down to the wire. The 2013 contest saw UCA score late to win the game, while last year’s game in Conway, Ark., was decided in overtime.

Before the Red and White steps on the field to face Central Arkansas it will have to travel to Natchitoches, La., to take on Northwestern State. The game against the Demons will kick off at 6 p.m. from Turpin Stadium.
