BC Chamber names Moore OHS Student of the Month

The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the Student of the Month for Orangefield High School is Austin Moore. Austin was presented his certificate and gift bag by Chamber Ambassador Christy Khoury at the March 8 coffee hosted by MCT Credit Union. He received gift certificates and gifts from several local merchants.

Austin is the son of Jody and Shanna Moore.

He has a GPA of 4.52 and is ranked number 13 of 118 students.

Austin’s awards and honors include:

  • 1st team All District Linebacker 2014 & 2015
  • 2nd team All District Running back 2015
  • 2nd team All State Academic 2015
  • Powerlifting Regional Champ 2016
  • Three powerlifting Regional Records
  • Powerlifting State Qualifier 2016
  • A-Honor Roll
Austin’s clubs and organizations include:
  • National Honor Society
  • Varsity Football
  • Varsity Powerlifting
  • Varsity Track
In community service, Austin has volunteered at local soup kitchens, retirement homes, canned food drives and helped with OHS Junior football camps.

Candi Patterson, OHS Counselor, said, “Austin works at his studies. He is thoughtful and focused. I know him to be self-motivated and inner directed – qualities that ensure he will make the most of his educational opportunities. Austin is also sensitive to others, a great team player and is well respected among his peers and faculty.”

After graduation, Austin plans to attend Lamar University and pursue a career in Chemical Engineering.
