LU to offer soccer camp

New Lamar University women’s soccer coach Steve Holeman has announced the dates for the 2016 soccer camps at the LU Soccer Complex. The Cardinals will conduct four college ID camps this spring along with three one-week youth camps this summer.

The one-day college ID camps are for girls high school soccer players who are looking to continue their soccer career at the collegiate level. The camps will run from 9 am-4 pm on April 23, April 24, May 21 and May 22. The cost is $140 per camper.

LU will also conduct Lil’ Cardinals camps for boys and girls ages 5 and 6 along with full-day camps for boys and girls from ages 7 to 13 on the weeks of June 6-10, June 13-17 and July 11-15.

The Lil’ Cardinals Camps will run from 9-11:30 am each day. The cost for each camper is $125 per week. The full-day camps start at 9 a.m. each day and end at 3 p.m. The cost is $260 per camper week, with additional siblings receiving a $20 discount per week. Teams of eight or more will receive a discount of $20 per team member.

In addition to Holeman, who came to LU after five seasons as head coach at Georgia, where he led the Bulldogs to two appearances in the NCAA Tournament, the camp staff includes LU associate head coach Henry Zapata along area high school and club coaches as well as current and former LU players.

“We want to provide the best training environment and camp experience possible,” Holeman said. “We want to ensure our campers have an unforgettable week of soccer. We want them to leave feeling they’ve improved as soccer players and had a great time doing it.”
