Dorman named OHS Student of the Month

The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the Student of the Month for Orangefield High School is Carley Dorman. Carley was presented her certificate and gift bag by Chamber Ambassador Rick Bridgers of Texas Paint and Drywall at the May 10th coffee hosted by FivePoint Credit Union. She received gift certificates and gifts from: The Classy Peacock, Bridge City Walmart, Wellspring Credit Union, Tiger Rock Martial Arts of Bridge City, Bridge City Bank, COS Printing, Sabine River Ford, Sabine Federal Credit Union, Complete Staffing, Five Point Credit Union, Scot C. Shaffer Farmers Insurance, Neighbors Emergency Center, MCT Credit Union, and Neches Federal Credit Union.

Carley is the daughter of Brandon and Wendy Dorman, and Mandy Dorman. She has a GPA of 3.95 and is ranked 33 of 119. Carley’s awards and honors include:

v Athletic Award – Basketball (9th- 11th grade)

v Bridge City- Orangefield Rotary Club Award

v All “A” Honor Roll

v Perfect Attendance

v Big “O” Merit Award for Spanish 2

Carley’s clubs and organizations include:

  • National Honor Society
  • Varsity Basketball Team
  • OHS Volleyball Team
  • OHS Cross Country
In community service, Carley has volunteered as an assistant basketball coach for Little Dribblers and a basketball camp counselor.

Jennifer Rumsey, English Teacher, said, “Carley Dorman is an excellent English student with a kind and pleasant personality. Carley works hard and excels academically. I truly enjoyed getting to know Carley and am grateful for the opportunity to teach her. Carley Dorman will bring a positive spirit and sweet disposition to those lucky enough to encounter her in the future. She will be very successful, as a result.”

Coach Jennifer Willis, said, “Carley Dorman has the kindest heart and always willing to help anyone anytime!”

After graduation, Carley plans to attend Stephen F. Austin University to obtain her masters degree in nursing and ultimately become a nurse practitioner.
