Orange Native and Family Star in HGTV Series

Gerald Mathews and Casandra Walker enjoy a quiet moment in their new home's kitchen/dining area.

Orange native Gerald Mathews and family were featured on the HGTV series "Fixin' to Reno" which premiered this past weekend. The episode aired on Saturday, May 7 and highlighted the couple purchasing and renovating their very first home in Los Angeles, CA. Born and raised in Orange, Gerald Mathews attended West Orange Stark High School where his love for tennis was inspired by his honors physics teacher, Michael Washburn.

After graduating from Lamar University in 1998, Gerald went on to pursue his professional career in tennis and toured internationally. After landing in Southern California, one of the highest rank states for playing tennis, he expanded his career in tennis and started his family. He now owns and operates Team G Tennis, a successful tennis academy that trains athletes on a junior and professional level. When Gerald isn't found court-side, he's spending quality time with his family in their beautiful brand new home. His two sons have even found their own love for the sport!

"Although Texas will always have a soft spot in my heart, the weather here in California is absolutely perfect for tennis. It's so humbling to be living my dream here and doing what I love," says Gerald Mathews.
