Eliza Sue Phillips, age 74, of Orange, passed away at her home Sunday, June 5. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 9, at 2:00 PM at Dorman Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Doyle Cemetery in Starks. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8, from 5:00-9:00 PM.
Eliza was born Feb. 24, 1942 in Georgia to the late Margaret Virginia (Bamburg) and Aaron Void Spell. She was a resident of Orange for almost 50 years. Eliza was a housewife who spent her time being a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Willie James Phillips, Sr. and mother to her four children. Eliza enjoyed cooking, tending to the flowers in her garden, bowling with her daughter and listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Virginia Sue Phillips; brothers, Aaron Spell and Jimmy Spell; sisters, Hilda Rich and Doris Long and her great-granddaughter, Harley Frazier.
Those left to cherish Sue’s memory are her loving husband, Willie James Phillips, Sr .; daughter, Theresa Diane Buxton and her husband, Lester; sons, Willie James Phillips, Jr., Mitchell Tobias Phillips and Timothy Shane Phillips; sister, Mattie Dickerson; brothers, Sam Spell, Buster Spell and William Spell; eight grandchildren and13 great grandchildren.
Honoring Sue as pallbearers will be Tyler Frazier, Cameron Buxton, Maverick Phillips, Dallas Phillips, Austin Phillips, Joe Buxton, Kyle Morgan and Seth Phillips.
