The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that J Scotts Aflorist has been named Business Member of the Month for June. Scott Hasty accepted the award, sponsored by Sabine River Ford, from Ambassador and Director Lucy Fields, at the June Networking Coffee hosted by CASA of the Sabine Neches Region. J Scotts Aflorist received gifts from several local merchants.

J Scotts Aflorist is locally owned and operated by Scott Hasty.

Born in Valdosta, Ga, Scott moved to Orange in 1967 at the age of 10.

Throughout his years growing up he enjoyed horticultural activities – gardening, creating new things and discovering new plants.

In the summer of 1977 he opened Scott’s Planter – a small plant shop – and soon began to delve into the business of fresh flowers due to encouragement from an employee.

In 1981 Scott sold the shop and went to work at DuPont, all the while freelancing with flowers.

The unit shut down in 1993 and Scott began working on opening a new shop.

April 1994 – J Scotts Aflorist was open for business.

The business has now grown into a unique floral studio.

Scott pursues his passion each day and continues his education by attending various floral conventions, serving on floral industry boards, networking with local organizations and becoming an accredited floral designer.

Hasty won the Allied Florists “Houston Cup” in 2003, allowing him the opportunity for competition later that year in their “Texas Cup”, in which he proved victorious as the 2003 Texas Cup Champion.

July, 2006 Scott was inducted into the prestigious floral organization – AIFD – American Institute of Floral Designers.
