Archie Tibbits, 79, of Vidor, was born Nov. 23, 1936 in Sour Lake and died July 24, after a brief, but brave struggle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ila Frances James Tibbits; son, Douglas Archie Tibbits, formerly of Vidor, now Germantown, TN and daughter, Paula Ann Tibbits Moore, formerly of Vidor, now of Searcy AR; daughter-in-law Susan Tibbits; son-in-law Harold Moore and grandchildren Brandon Tibbits, Kailey Tibbits, Katie Tibbits, Austin Moore and Abby Moore; sister, Ann King of San Antonio and her husband Milton King; brothers-in-law, Coy James of Dallas, Gary Schwalenberg of Sour Lake and many friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, James and Maude Tibbits of Sour Lake and sister Pat Schwalenberg of Sour Lake.
Archie was an Elder of the Vidor Church of Christ for 32 years. He is a veteran of the US Armed Forces, serving from 1960-1962. He retired from Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation (Spectra Energy) after a 36 year career as an Electrician. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a good Christian man and will be sorely missed by many.
Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 pm Tuesday, July 26, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 27, at Memorial Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
