Robbie Singletary McKay, 88, Orange,

Robbie Singletary McKay, 88, of Orange, Texas, passed away on January, 23, 2017, in Beaumont, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Orange First Church of the Nazarene, in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Pastor K. Ray McDowell. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park.

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Born in Orange, Texas, on March 3, 1928, Robbie was the daughter of Robert and Mattie Mae Singletary.

She attended Bethany Nazarene College in Oklahoma City for two years where she was a music major.

She completed her education in the early seventies when she received her degree in education from Lamar University in Beaumont.

She taught special education at Mauriceville Elementary and was very involved with G.O.A.L.S., teaching adult literacy.

She was the owner and director at A-Plus Childcare Center in Pinehurst.

Robbie was a longtime member of Orange First Church of the Nazarene where she served in many capacities.

She loved reading, playing the piano, and keeping up with current events.

She loved her children and grandchildren very much and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 62 years, Tommy McKay; son, Kendall McKay; siblings, Trotti Singletary, Carmon Singletary, E.R. Singletary, E.J. Singletary, Wanda Johnson, and Jimmy Singletary.

Robbie is survived by her children, Mark McKay and wife Susan, of Aiken, SC, Kevin McKay, of Orange, and Jean Gunter and husband Bill, of Orange; grandchildren, Ben McKay, of New Orleans, Angela Torgesen and husband Jay, of Johnston, SC, Collin Gunter, of Guntersville, AL, and Caitlin Gunter, of Huntsville, AL; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Taylor Torgesen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Robbie’s caregivers, Jamie Byerly, Machiel Bailey, Brenda Woolever, and the nurses and caregivers from Harbor Hospice.
