Rainy forecast changes Christmas parades dates

Orangefield's “Christmas in Orangefield” festivities have been postponed until further notice and parades in both Orange and Bridge City have been moved to the second full week in December.

All three events were originally scheduled for Friday, Dec. 7 or Saturday, Dec. 8.

The Orange Christmas parade, put on by the Kiwanis Club, has been postponed until 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10. Events that were to follow the Orange parade -- a Christmas tree lighting and market at Riverfront Pavilion -- have been canceled.

The parade will begin at Front and 8th Streets, and circle city hall on a course framed by Green Ave., 1st Street, Front Street and 10th Street. It will end at the Riverfront Pavilion.

The Bridge City Christmas Light Parade has been postponed until 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Toy entry fees for the event put on by the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce are due Friday, Dec. 7. Please call the chamber at 409-735-5671 to make arrangements to drop off your toys.

Other seasonal activities also include Christmas Stroll at Shangri La Gardens, 2111 W. Park 6 p.m. through 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday the next two weeks, Dec. 12-15 and Dec. 19-22. Visitors are urged to donate non-perishable food items for Orange Christian Services.

The City of Orange Fire Department is hosting the 2nd annual “Fill the Fire Truck Campaign from 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily through Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Central Fire Station, 501 N. 7th St.

Donations of new unwrapped toys are being collected to fill the vintage fire truck in the lobby of the Central Fire Station.
