Pinehurst to vote on new rate

The City of Pinehurst city council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, for a final vote on a 2019 tax rate that’s a smidge less than 2018.

The total tax rate of 71.393 cents per $100 value is about a penny and a half under last year’s rate of 72.762 cents per $100.

Aldermen and women met Tuesday night and held the second tax rate hearing as required by law. There were no citizens at the hearing witnessed only by a couple of news reporters and city staff.

The 2019 rate includes 64.215 cents per $100 for maintenance and operation tax and 7.178 cents per $100 for debt service tax.
