Facts for Citrus Trees

1. Citrus Trees will grow in any number of soil types. Your PH should be between 6 and 7. Citrus likes direct sunlight for 6 or more hours. You should space your trees twelve to fifteen feet apart. Good drainage is essential to prevent water logging and root fungus.

2.   Spring is the preferred time to plant Citrus Trees from February through May. However you can also plant Citrus in the fall from mid- September through October.

June 3 -5. Best time for above ground crops. Best time to irrigate and transplant. Best time to destroy weeds and pest. Prepare seed beds.

June 6-9. Best time for root crops. Good time to plant bulbs, berries, trees and shrubs.

Recipes of the Week

Honey Pecan Pork Cutlets

4-6 pork cutlets

1 c flour

6 Tblsp butter, divided

1/2 c honey

1/2 C chopped pecans

Salt and pepper to taste

    Season cutlets with salt and pepper. Place half the butter in a heavy skillet. Dredge meat in flour, shaking off excess. Add cutlets to skillet and brown on both sides, 6 to 7 minutes. Stir together remaining butter, honey and pecans. Pour over cutlets, stirring gently. Cover and simmer until meat is cooked about 8-9 minutes. Remove cutlets to serving platter and pour sauce over.

Corn Flake Cookies

1 c light Karol syrup

1 c sugar

5 c corn flakes

12 oz. Peanut butter

    Bring syrup and sugar to a boil. Boil 1 minute.

Remove from heat and add peanut butter. Stir till smooth. Add corn flakes and fold over until cereal is coated. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper.
