Hometown News For Orange County, Texas
The number of new cases of covid-19 in Orange County continue to rocket up the charts with Wednesday afternoon's numbers released by health officials showing a record increase of 60 confirmed cases and 55 more active cases than a week before.
The numbers, printed on the OC Emergency Management Department Facebook page, show that the Thursday June 23 statistics report dwarfs the numbers from the previous report from
Wednesday June 17.
Seven days ago, the County had 22 active cases of the 131 covid-19 patients who had tested positive since March. By Wednesday June 27 there are 79 active cases, an increase of 55 more active cases at risk of spreading the respiratory disease to others.
The new positive-test number of 191 in the county has nearly doubled in two weeks the total of covid patients that tested positive – 99 on June 3.
The latest report showed little discrimination in the age of residents getting ill.
Young people accounted for 21 of the 60 newest cases – seven under 10 years old, and 10 between 21-30. Those aged 61 and over picked up 27 new cases of the infection, 11 in the 61-70 age range, 9 in 71-80 and 7 in 81 and over.
