DonorsChoose Partners with LCMCISD

Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD announced today a new partnership with the national nonprofit DonorsChoose to help teachers tap into a network of 4 million donors to support classroom projects and more seamlessly align with district strategy and operations.

Teachers in Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD (LCMCISD) have raised over $715,000 and completed over 570 projects on DonorsChoose. These projects vary from books to classroom furniture and other tools to enhance the learning environment and support student success.

According to Superintendent Stacey Brister, “Teachers in all of our LCMCISD schools were very proactive in searching for grants to replace or enhance their classrooms following both Hurricane Harvey and Tropical Storm Imelda. The devastation was such that many were left with nothing with which to begin the school year.

DonorsChoose gave exposure to those needs through their program, enabling donors who would never have seen our requests without them to be able to select our teachers’ projects. This made a huge difference to our schools and being able to get classrooms operative soon after the flooding.”

As one of the 46 members of the DonorsChoose District Partnership Program, LCM CISD will be able to fully support teachers in the use of the platform and align efforts with the district’s strategic priorities. LCM CISD will be able to monitor all donated materials, principals will be notified each time a project is funded and receive early notification when there are new “match” funding opportunities.

“We're excited to have Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD as a new member of the DonorsChoose District Partnership Program,” said Charles Best, founder and CEO of DonorsChoose. “Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD teachers and administrators continue to work hard to make sure students succeed, so far they’ve raised over $715k towards classroom materials from donors across the country. We can't wait to see how the DonorsChoose community can support these educators even more through our partnership.”
