Hometown News For Orange County, Texas
KAZ’S FEARLESS FORECAST
Games This Week
WEST ORANGE-STARK over WACO LA VEGA (at Madisonville)—This turned out to be a late-scheduled match-up which will be like a playoff game for the Mustangs with the teams pretty evenly matched and ranked in the state preseason polls. In fact, the ‘Stangs probably are the underdogs which should fire them up. WO-S doesn’t want their chance for an undefeated season ruined in August.
LITTLE CYPRESS-MAURICEVILLE over HAMSHIRE-FANNETT—The Battlin’ Bears will have their hands full with the scrappy Longhorns. Fortunately, it’s a home game for LC-M and the Bears want to assure their faithful fans they will play better than they did in last week’s scrimmage against Bridge City,
BRIDGE CITY over BUNA—The Cardinals looked pretty good in their scrimmage last week against cross-county rival LC-M and will need that same effort against the Cougars at Larry Ward Stadium Friday night.
ORANGEFIELD over ANAHUAC—The Bobcats must travel to Anahuac to play a very formidable foe in this season opener. The ‘Cats will wear out the hosts with their bone-crushing ground game.
SILSBEE over VIDOR—Although the Pirates have the larger school with more players, the Tigers have been one of the best Class 4A teams in the state. And Silsbee is adamant at starting off the new season on a winning note, but it won’t be easy.
