The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce has announced that the November student of the month for Orangefield High School is Gunner Jones. Gunner was presented her certificate by Bridge City Board of Director, Kim Smalley.
Gunner is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Shon and Christy Jones. He is ranked 4 th of 119 and has a GPA of 4.7.
Gunner’s awards and honors include:
Various Big “O” Awards
All District Football 2019-2020
Highest Honors Awards- Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior year
All District Baseball 2017-2018, 2018-2019
Rotary Youth Leadership Award
Gunner’s clubs and organizations include:
National Honor Society
Football all four years of high school
Baseball all four years of high school
Gunner’s community service/work experience:
Helps with Bobcat Baseball camp
Works Concession stands for football and baseball
Helped with cleanup from Hurricane Laura
Melissa Hyatt, Government and Economics Teacher said, “Gunner’s Character is second to none. He is a
bright spot to all that know him.”
Misty Bellard, Technology Teacher said, ““I was privileged enough to have taught Gunner his first
three years here at Orangefield High School. He is a very respectful, intelligent student, but
what stands out about Gunner is his focus, determination, and dedication in every aspect of this
student involvement. He is a very goal driven student that puts in the work necessary to achieve
his desired result. He performs just as well in the classroom as he does on the field. He is an
excellent choice for student of the month.”
Simone Oregel, Math Teacher said. “Gunner is a great student and young man. Our Calculus
class misses him this year. Whatever Gunner decides to do after high school, he will do great!
Gunner’s future plans are to attend Lamar state College Orange next fall to finish his basics, then will
transfer to Lamar University to earn a Bachelor’s In Accounting.
