George Alexander, 82, Bridge City

George Alexander, 82, of Bridge City, passed away on December 8, 2020, in Beaumont.

A graveside service will be held at the Creel Cemetery in Bel, Louisiana.  Visitation and graveside service times are pending under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Leesville, Louisiana, on July 3, 1938, he was the son of Gus T. Alexander and Callie Mae (Young) Alexander.  

George “Buddy” Alexander was a faithful member of the Bridge City United Pentecostal Church for 54 years, where he served on the church board, pianist and bus ministry.  He worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad for 38 years.  Buddy was an avid ham operator and enjoyed sharing his life experiences with his ham operator friends.  He loved to travel and enjoyed using his RV to visit his favorite places.  He loved to fish and shrimp in his younger years and supplied many friends and family with his catches.  Buddy was faithful to his loving wife, Betty, for 63 years and loved his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Callie Mae Alexander; and brother-in-law, Gerald Gilley.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Alexander of Bridge City; sister, Shirley Gilley of Bridge City; children, Kevin “Joe” Alexander and wife, Patty Alexander of Bridge City, Sari LaGrone and husband Jim LaGrone of Yantis, Skipper Alexander and wife, Krystyn Alexander of Katy, Mari Aquillard and husband, David Aquillard of Bridge City and Kathryn “Kathy” Alexander of Bridge City; grandchildren, James LaGrone of Houston, Lauren LaGrone and fiancé Joel Cotter of Houston, Ashley Robinson and husband Dustin of Bridge City, Chase Alexander and wife Kelsey of Bridge City, Keaton Alexander and Lily Palmer of Katy, Courtney Alexander and James Manners of Cypress, Vienna Mae Alexander of Katy, Kevin Jackson and wife Tanna of Splendora, and Coleman Jackson and wife Kimberly of Little Cypress; great-grandchildren, Carter, Trevor, Morgan, Brodi, Kinley, Kaela, John, Mark, Ethan and Cameron; step-grandchildren, Dustin Hughes, Landon Harris, Roman Prasarn, Alexis Prasarn, Alison Hampton, and Tiffany Goodwin.

Serving as pallbearers will be James LaGrone, Chase Alexander, Kevin Jackson, Coleman Jackson and Keaton Alexander.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bridge City United Pentecostal Church in Memory of George C. Alexander at P.O. Box 1590, Bridge City, Texas 77611.
