Hometown News For Orange County, Texas
It's that time of year again and we are preparing for the 26th annual Orange County Sheriff's Office COPS AND KIDS PICNIC. This year the gathering will be held on Friday July, 16th 2021 at Claiborne West Park, located on the 1-10 westbound service road between Orange and Vidor . The hours will be between 10am and 2pm. Come out and participate in the gathering and help carry forward the legacy of Orange County Deputy John Badeaux.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office believes the Cops and Kids Picnic is a very important tool in the development of a good relationship between Law Enforcement, Emergency Personnel, and our local children. The Orange County Sheriff's Office wants to bridge the gap between children and First Responders, by showing them that we are here to help, that we are interested in their well-being, and hopefully guide them into making better decisions as they grow into adulthood. It is very rewarding to see all the various First Responders and the children bonding together and having a wonderful time. More importantly, the children are given the opportunity to develop confidence, to feel wanted, and to develop dreams for their futures, even those dreams of one day becoming a First Responder.
Yearly, approximately 2500 individuals attend the Cops and Kids Picnic. The gathering offers a variety of exciting activities, along with food, drinks, and sweets for those in attendance.
