Morton David Kline, 78, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 3, 2021.
Morton was born on December 19, 1942 in Houston, Texas to his parents, Sam Leo Kline and Miriam"Bushy" Goldberg Kline. The family moved to Port Arthur, Texas where Morton graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Mannheim, Germany. After completing his military service, Morton attended Lamar University where he met his future wife, Kaaren Ann Hancken. They married in 1967 and moved to Bridge City, Texas.
While they raised their family, Morton owned and operated Kwik-Kopy printing in Orange, Texas and Kaaren taught at Bridge City Jr. High. Morton provided the Orange County area with all of their printing needs for over 20 years and was a proud member of the Orange Noon Lions Club up until his passing. One of the highlights of his life was working at the annual Orange Lions Club Carnival. If you ate any food from the Orange Noon Lions Club booth over the last 30 years, it is likely that he served you with a smile. After retiring from work, Morton enjoyed trips to and from school with his granddaughter Katrina, visits from his grandkids Jack and Hazel, taking his granddogs for walks, and keeping up with the Astros, Rockets, and Texans. We will all miss him greatly.
Morton is survived by his loving wife, Kaaren Ann Hancken Kline; son Thomas Kline and daughter-in-law Melanie Peart Kline; daughter Gretchen Kline Phillips; brother Jay Rodney Kline and sister-in-law Carol Kline; grandchildren, Katrina Phillips and fiancé Bo McDaniel; Jack Kline and Hazel Kline; sister-in-law Candace Begnaud; and nephew Harry Kline and wife Maryanne Kline.
He was predeceased by his father Sam Leo Kline; his mother Miriam "Bushy" Goldberg Kline Tiras; his step-father Leon Tiras; his nephew Jay Kline, Jr.; and his brother-in-law Eugene Emile Begnaud.
There will be a 2:00 PM graveside service held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas on April 13, 2021. In lieu of flowers, Morton's family asks that you consider a donation in his name to the Orange Noon Lions Club, P.O. Box 2301, Orange, Texas 77631. Arrangements were handled under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.
Due to the Covid-19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors to the funeral home are required to wear facemask or coverings and practice social distancing.
