Collins seeks re-election for BCISD Place 1

My name is Patty Collins, and I am your current BCISD School Board Trustee, Place 1. Because of my strong belief in public education and the value it provides for our community, as well as my passion for the city in which I was raised, I am announcing my candidacy for reelection.

My own excellent education in Bridge City schools laid the foundation for my dedication to life-long learning. My formal higher education includes a Bachelor of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Science in Organizational and Human Resource Development from Abilene Christian University. I have been employed at Lamar State College Orange since 2017, and previously worked in a non-profit training and educational organization for over 20 years. I am a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and a Certified Association Executive (CAE).

My professional career has included significant assignments in accounting, finance, and budgeting, as well as project management of new commercial construction. This experience has provided me real-world understanding of the careful management of assets and budgets to achieve goals in the most cost-effective manner. While serving as your Trustee, I have been keenly focused on the wise use of District funds and judicious spending of your tax dollars to benefit our schools, the students, and our community.

Service to the community is a calling for me. I am the current Chapter Administrator for the Southeast Texas Human Resource Association, Vice Chairman of the Board of Wellspring Credit Union, and 1st Vice Chair of the Board of United Way of Orange County. I also serve as a Junior Achievement volunteer which has allowed me to spend time in the BCISD classrooms facilitating the JA programs in both the high school and intermediate school. My previous board experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for Girls' Haven (including serving as President), St. Mary Hospital Foundation, Junior Achievement of the Golden Triangle, and Leadership Southeast Texas.

I am honored to be an active member of St Paul's United Methodist Church, which my late grandmother helped establish. I was appointed to the Staff-Parish Relations Committee in 2017 and have been the Chair of the Prayer Garden Committee since its beginning. Other assignments at the church have included the Finance and New Building committees and serving on the Board of Trustees of St. Paul's UMC.

If reelected to serve on the BCISD Board of Trustees, I will apply my years of experience in leadership, human resources, organization management, finance, and board service to our district. I am eager to continue offering my time and talents to the children, parents, employees, and citizens of our district. I will listen to all our stakeholders with an open mind, I will devote my passion and energy to supporting public education in Texas, and I will work with the current board and administration to meet and exceed the goals set for our district. My priorities will continue to be ensuring high academic standards, availability of extra-curricular activities, support for our teachers, staff, and administration, and the long-term financial stability of our district.

A vote for Patty Collins is a vote for experience, leadership, and passion for BCISD. I appreciate your vote for BCISD School Board Trustee, Place 1. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to serve our number one priority, the future of tomorrow, our BCISD students!
