Hometown News For Orange County, Texas
Games This Week
WEST ORANGE-STARK over NEWTON—The Mustangs have had two weeks to prepare for this talented opponent which has given them plenty of problems in the past. It could very well come down to the last team with the football wins.
BRIDGE CITY over ANAHUAC—The Cardinals had a rude awakening last week against the Huffman Falcons and maybe this gut check will lead to a much better performance Friday night. But the Redbirds had better not take these Panthers too lightly before their district opener in two weeks.
ORANGEFIELD over BUNA—The Bobcats are sitting pretty atop of the District 11-4A-II standings with an unblemished 3-0 record while the Cougars are still looking for their first 2021 victory. Buna would like nothing better than putting a hickey on the ‘Cats clean record, so Orangefield needs to just take care of business.
VIDOR over BAY CITY—The 3-0 Pirates are off to their best start in many moons and would like to treat their home fans to their fourth straight win of the young season. But they had better not get complacent and savor those press clippings and burst their bubble.
DEWEYVILLE over WARREN—This will be the Pirates’ toughest task so far this season, taking on a larger school on the road. But Deweyville is playing sound football and needs that to happen again Friday night.
NORTHERN COLORADO over LAMAR—Murdering North American may have given the Cardinals fodder for their scrapbooks, but it merely set up the whomping they took Saturday in San Antonio against UTSA. Northern Colorado lost to Colorado—the team that barely lost 10-7 against the fifth-ranked Texas Aggies Saturday—and then overwhelmed Houston Baptist Saturday. The Redbirds will have to be at their best to compete in this road game.
McNEESE STATE over SOUTHERN—The Cowboys never dreamed they would still be looking for their first victory in their third game of the season, but they had better get their program together after being blanked by LSU Saturday and get ready for the start of Southland Conference play next week.
