The Bridge City Middle School 7th and 8th grade red teams traveled to Hamshire Fannett and came away 1-1 on the night. The 7th grade red team lost 26-8. The offense was led by Keagan Trahan and Bryce Breeden. Defensive leaders were Alex Chappell, Breeden, and Joel Williams. The 7th grade team falls to 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in district. The 8th grade red team won 20-16. Mid way through the 3rd quarter they fell behind 16-6, but continued to keep playing hard to keep HF scoreless the rest of the way, allowing the offense to score two late touchdowns. The defense played well all night limiting the HF offense to just the two big plays. Austin Frederick had an interception to stop one key HF drive. The offensive line did a fantastic job all night long. Running backs Abraham Munguia and Braxton Lynam led the scoring for BC. The win improves their record to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in district. Both the 7th and 8th grade red teams will play their home openers next Thursday when they host HJ.Bridge City Middle School hosted two white team games against Groves Wednesday night. The 8th grade team fell 18-14. Evan Jackson opened the scoring for the Cardinals with a long touchdown pass to Hayden Sleeman. Jackson then added the two point conversion. Dylan Bradley had another touch down run. Sleeman and Atticus Moore had good catches for significant yardage. Defense leaders were JJ Rougeau, LJ Gutierrez, Trenton Cox, and Trystan Davidson with some big stops. The 7th grade team won in 12-6 with a big defensive touchdown at the end of the game. The offense was led my quarterback Jason Melancon who had a touchdown pass to Isaiah Del Hierro to tie the game as the half ended. Brayden Greer had several nice runs as well. The defense was led by Ryder Melanson, Brayan Collazo, and Carson Richey had the game winning fumble recovery in the end zone in the closing seconds of the game.
