Hilda Marie Turner Mire, 88, of Bridge City, passed away on October 3, in Port Arthur. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Brian Gibbs. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Born in Milton, Louisiana, on November 16, 1932, Hilda was the daughter of Leonce Turner and Susan (Menard) Turner. She was a kind soul with a set of lively passions, when she wasn't jitterbugging, playing cards with family and friends, playing the slots at the casino or gardening, Hilda loved to cook. So much so that she was the cafereria manager for Bridge City ISD. Her family wer her the most important people to her and she always made sure that each one of them knew that. She will be deeply missed by all those that held her close. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonce and Susan Turner; siblings, Mable Pellerin, Rena Mouton, Willis Turner, Carroll Turner, Harlod Turner, Dalfred Turner, and Wilbert Turner. Hilda is survived by her husband, Pierre "Pete" Mire of Bridge City; children, Darline Fair and husband Norman of Bridge City, David Mire and wife Dianne of McKinney, and Lisa Henderson and husband John of Arlington; grandchildren, Jason Harrison, Amy Guidroz and husband Rob, Brooke Gibbs and husband Brian, Destiney Chaney and husband Urby, D.J. Mire, and Christi Maddox and husband Heath; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Gibbs, Trevor Maddox, Kobe Maddox, Marcella Carpenter, and Maxine Chaney; siblings, Sidney Turner of Las Vegas and Chester Turner of Maurice, Louisiana. Serving as pallbearers will be David Mire, Norman Fair, John Henderson, Chester Turner, David Dotson, and Brian Gibbs. Those attending the visitation and funeral are required to wear a mask.
