George Raymond Peery, 86, of Bridge City, passed away on January 5, 2022, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City, TX. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Born in Orange, Texas, on December 20, 1935, he was the son of Vernon Peery and Olamph Nezat Peery.
George served in the United States Army with the 10th Mountaineers, also playing football for the Army. George worked for Chevron as an Operator for many years. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and was very devoted in his faith and love for God. George loved hunting, fishing, cooking, and playing cards. He could almost always be found spending time in his shop or surrounded by his friends and family. George had a heart of gold and would always go the extra mile to help someone in need. He was a wonderful man, loved by many, and will be forever cherished in the hearts of all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Dale Peery; daughter, Melissa Peery Laughlin; brothers, Robert Peery, Carol Peery, and W.L. Peery; and sisters, Charlotte Peery Cormier and Lou Peery Lowe.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy “Dot” Peery; children, Gary Peery and fiancé Dee Dee of Orange and Kelli Knippers-Lindsey and husband Chuck of Beaumont; grandchildren, Wesley Knippers and wife Tiffany, Courtney Williams and husband Jeremy, Cydney Hill, Whitney Dupuis and husband Colby, and Allison Laughlin; and brother, Joe Peery of Jasper; and 8 great-grandchildren.
