The City of Orange is now accepting applications for the position of Fire Chief, following Chief David
Frenzel’s retirement announcement.
The current Fire Chief, David Frenzel, will retire from the City of Orange after serving with the
department for 53 years. This will be the first time in 25 years that the position of Fire Chief is open to
be filled.
The Fire Chief serves as the administrative head of the City of Orange Fire Department and provides the
overall direction to firefighters, animal control, and administrative employees. This position supervises
the planning, operation, and administration of firefighting, emergency medical services, fire inspections,
loss prevention, life safety, and fire service activities in the City.
Currently, the Orange Fire Department has 37 firefighters and administrative staff, three fire stations,
and three animal control employees.
