Lacy Leon Carter, 95, Orange

Leon Carter, 95, of Orange, passed away on May 24, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2022, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City.

Officiating will be Reverend Mark Bunch and Reverend David Green. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 27, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Ralls, Texas, on May 19, 1927, he was the son of Cecil Ray Carter and Addie Mae Carter. Leon was a very dedicated member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, he even received an award from the Society of John Wesley which is traditionally only presented to members of the clergy. He was also a member of the Emmaus Group and was active in a lay witness mission program. Leon continued to show God’s love through his work with

the Kairos Prison Ministry. In his down time he really enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family whom he loved with all of his heart. Leon was truly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Addie Carter; as well as his sisters, Bobbie, Betty, and Mary.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Billie Don Carter; sons, Dale Ray Carter and wife Nancy, Marcus Leon Carter and wife Ronda, Daniel Lynn Carter; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Cimmaron Carter wife, Nancy and son, Jaxon, Shaun Dale Carter wife, Summer and children, Gemma Don, Luke John, Haley Marie, Aaliyah, Matthew David Carter wife, Brittney and children, Braylen, Micah, Amelia, Marla Elizabeth McCracken

husband, Alex and son, Noah; and sister, Flo Edgerly and husband Gene.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cimmaron Carter, Shaun Carter, Matthew Carter, Alex McCracken, Hunter Smith, J.S. Bearden, Hutch Bearden, and Carlos Falu.
