Lady Bobcats beat Hamshire-Fannett in volleyball

The Orangefield Lady Bobcats won a thrilling five set match with Hamshire-Fannett last Friday on the road. The Lady Bobcats won the first two games before dropping the next two to the Lady Longhorns and having to clinch the victory by winning the fifth set.

Orangefield won 26-24 and 25-17 and needed just one more win to sow-up the match. Hamshire-Fannett rallied taking game three 25-21 and the fourth game 26-24.

The Lady Bobcats played a solid deciding game winning 15-5 for the win. Orangefield is 1-1 having lost to the Lumberton Lady Raiders in the first match of the new season.

The leaders for the Lady Bobcats in the match against Hamshire-Fannett were Greenlea Oldham with 12 kills and Mackenzie Haley had 11. Libby Thurman produced 15 digs and Hannah Block had 14 for Orangefield.

The Lady Bobcats got 3 aces from both Hannah Block and Kaitlyn Jenkins. Greenlea Oldham and Lela Francis had 3 blocks a piece while Kylie Mouton had two. Assists were topped by Brianna Moore with 28 followed by 15 from Harleigh Rawls.

The Orangefield Junior Varsity won in straight sets 25-13 and 25-15. The Freshman won in two sets with scores of 25-20 and 25-16.

The Orangefield Lady Bobcats play in the Bay City Tournament Thursday through Saturday, August 18-20. The Lady Bobcats play the Bridge City Lady Cardinals on Tuesday, August 23, at Bridge City before hosting their own volleyball tournament on Thursday, August 25, at Bobcat Gym.
