Games This Weekend

SILSBEE over WEST ORANGE-STARK—The defense that spurred the Mustangs on to win 18 straight district championships and has been one of the top models in the State of Texas for more than 40 years under Dan Hooks and Cornel Thompson, appears to be on vacation this year as it couldn’t stop the area’s best Class 3A team in the final minutes last week, so how can we expect it to even slow down our area’s best 4A team Friday night??

ORANGEFIELD over BUNA—The Bobcats head to Friday night’s District 10-3A lid-lifter after being soundly thrashed by a good Woodville team while the Coogs enjoyed plastering 75 points on the board against Kountze to indoctrinate their new head coach. But the games are for real now and the ‘Cats are ready to rumble.

HAMSHIRE-FANNETT over BRIDGE CITY—Everybody’s District 9-4A record is 0-0 going into this week’s action and the Cards would like nothing more than to start off with a nice victory. But they will have to play error-free football for this upset to occur. I’m rooting for this pick to be all wet.

VIDOR over TRINITY CHRISTIAN—The Pirates got that elusive first victory last week against Lake Charles St. Louis and would love to go into their bye next week on a two-game winning streak. But they must continue to play sound football to do it.

DEWEYVILLE over CHILTON—I don’t know a thing about this opponent, but the Pirates need this win before District 12-2A starts in two weeks.

NORTHWESTERN STATE over LAMAR—The Cardinals are still searching for their first victory of the season and their trip to Natchitoches could end the losing streak, but only if the Redbirds show a lot more offense than in the three losses. Remember, their opponent is the Demons and plan to demonize this Saturday visitor.

MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE over McNEESE STATE—The Cowboys are in the same boat as Lamar, searching desperately for that initial triumph of the season. The Cowboys are scoring points, but are surrendering too many.
