Lady Bobcats drop first district match

The Orangefield Lady Bobcats lost for the first time in district to the East Chambers Lady Bucs on Friday, September 16. It was the third straight five set match for the Lady Bobcats since the start of district.

Orangefield and East Chambers alternated winning sets. The Lady Bucs took the first and third sets while the Lady Bobcats won the second and fourth sets. The scores were 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, and 25-20 in those sets.

The Lady Bobcats battled but came up short 13-15 to East Chambers in the deciding fifth set. Orangefield is 2-1 in district with wins over Kirbyville and Warren previously.

Leaders for Orangefield in the match with East Chambers were Kylie Mouton with 12 kills, 2 aces, and a block. Greenlea Oldham had 11 kills and a block. Lela Francis had 9 kills. Mackenzie Haley had 26 digs and Libby Thurman had 22 digs. Brianna Moore was the leader in assists with 42.

The Orangefield Junior Varsity and Freshmen teams both won in straight sets. Ava Dyer, Sterling Richard, Paris Becker, and Jaydin Agerton were leaders for the Lady Bobcat JV. For the freshmen Sophia Marino, Gabby White, and Haylee Spears had outstanding games.

Orangefield played the Hardin Lady Hornets on Tuesday, September 20. The Lady Bobcats host the Buna Lady Cougars on Friday, September 23 with the varsity game at 4:30 PM at Bobcat Gym.
