Mattie Susan Carswell, 78, of Orange, Texas, passed away on October 16, 2022, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Pecan Acres Baptist Church in Vidor, Texas. Officiating will be Pastor Jared Hollier.
Mattie was born in Orange, Texas, on March 1, 1944. She proudly served her country in the U. S. Navy Reserves. Mattie went on to work as a medical technician for various nursing homes and was an excellent caretaker. She was a woman of great faith and was a member of Pecan Acres Baptist Church. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and sewing. Mattie was a wonderful cook and made the best gumbo. Some of her fondest memories include traveling the country in an RV. Above all else, Mattie loved and adored her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, J. M. and Loretta Peveto and Doris McNeeley; her husband of 27 years, Don Carswell; her daughter, Karen Fox; her granddaughter, Skye Frederick; and her siblings, Beverly Ann Rigby and Gerald Glen Peveto.
She is survived by her sons, George Fox, and Dennis Fox and wife Angie; her grandchildren, Tyler Frederick, Jeremiah Fox, Tiffany Fox, George Fox, Avery Fox, Noah Fox, Brittany Hubert, Harley Hubert, and Tyler Hubert; her great-grandchildren, Dayton Noland, Blakelynn Noland, Kegan Noland, Brodie Lavere, Logann Frederick, and Beaux Frederick; her sister, Pat Bailey; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
