Games This Weekend

JASPER over WEST ORANGE-STARK—The Bulldogs have an unblemished record in District 9-4A while the Mustangs are struggling just to have a possible shot at the state playoffs as the No. 4 seed. This situation will probably be intact when this contest concludes in the Piney Woods Friday night.

LITTLE CYPRESS-MAURICEVILLE over SPLENDORA—The Battlin’ Bears faced a high-scoring Livingston Lions team last week and shut them down methodically. They had better not look past Friday’s opponent and be thinking about next week’s big game at Lumberton.

BRIDGE CITY over HARDIN-JEFFERSON—This is one of the few District 9-4A games in which the Cardinals are playing a team of equal caliber. It’s a home game and their supporters deserve to see a well-played contest that results in a Redbird victory.

VIDOR over LIVINGSTON—The Pirates suffered a tough loss last week at Lumberton and should bounce back into the win column this week. But the Lions are capable of lighting the scoreboard often, so the Pirates better throw some defense at them.

DEWEYVILLE over HULL-DAISETTA—The Pirates had a tough time subduing Colmesneil last week and things will not be any easier this week, except Friday night’s game will be in the friendly confines of Pirates Stadium in Deweyville.

LAMAR over PRAIRIE VIEW A&M---This may be the Cardinals only shot at a victory this season. Fortunately, they have had two weeks to prepare for this home game at Provost-Umphrey Stadium in Beaumont. And there’s a good chance this first taste of victory could be contagious.

NICHOLLS STATE over McNEESE STATE---The Colonels used to give the Cowboys all they could handle when the Pokes were a good team. With only one win to show for 2022 so far, they are not a good team. This game is in Thibodaux Saturday where the Cowboys have always had trouble winning. That trend continues.
