Anna LaVerne Bean, age 92, of Liberty, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, in Liberty, Texas. Visitation of family and friends will be held at Dorman Funeral Home, on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Trout Creek Cemetery, on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 10:00 AM.
LaVerne was born on Sunday, September 7, 1930 to parents Reuel and Annie Thompson in Mercury, Texas. She went to college at Sam Houston, and in 1950, she met her future husband, Robert Bean, who was also enrolled there. They said their I do's in 1953 and never left each other's side. LaVerne began teaching in Jasper, Texas, and retired from Little Cypress-Mauriceville, in Orange, Texas. Following her teaching career, LaVerne was elected as a Justice of the Peace, in Deweyville, Texas. She was a member of Hartburg Baptist Church, in Hartburg, Texas, for more than 65 years. In her time outside of work and church, LaVerne enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bean; parents, Reuel and Annie Thompson; brothers, R.W. Thompson and Reuel Thompson Jr.; and sister, Pauline Graves.
Those left to cherish LaVerne’s memory are her son, Steve Bean and wife, Christie, of Liberty, Texas; daughter, Sandy Gammon and husband, Bob, of Medina, Texas; and three grandchildren, Brice Bean, Kathleen Bean, and Trey Gammon.
