Alton Ray Campbell, 82, of Orange, passed away on December 20, 2022, at Focus Care in Orange. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Chaplain Lynn Fontenot. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2022, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Born in Zwolle, Louisiana, on January 18, 1940, he was the son of Robert Campbell and Katherine (Nigerville) Campbell. Alton was a retired pipefitter and enjoyed being able to work as a carpenter in his free time. He loved being able to relax and watch a good game of golf. When he was younger, he liked to go shrimping when the time was right. Alton enjoyed a game of poker with friends. He attended the Cowboy Church and loved being with his lord and savior. Alton was a good man and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Katherine Campbell; sons, Stacy Campbell and Robert Campbell; siblings, Travis Campbell, Raleigh Campbell, Raymond Campbell, and Mary Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Verrett; sons, Alton “Bud” Campbell and wife Brandi, and Steven Campbell and wife Tammy; siblings, Glenn Campbell, Kathy Jones and husband Gerald, Donnie Campbell; sisters-in-law, Janis Campbell and Janel Campbell; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family. Serving as pallbearers will be Timmy Campbell, Bill Betcham, John Campbell, J.W. Dalton, and Alton Campbell III. Honorary pallbearers are Ernest Dronett and Tristan Campbell.
