Hometown News For Orange County, Texas
Linda Peveto Heard, 83, of Orange, passed away on January 11, 2023, at Forever Young Home in Groves, Texas after a battle with dementia.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday January 15, 2023, in the chapel at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with a graveside service to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Linda was born on October 17, 1939, to Ike and Dixie Peveto of Orange. Linda was a lifelong member of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church. She married John Marvin Heard on August 17, 1957. Together they built and operated White Oak Golf Course and Heard's Nursery and Landscaping.
Linda truly loved like Jesus, with her whole heart in the most unconditional way. She loved baseball, especially the Astros and Lance Berkman. She adored watching her daughters and grandchildren in all their sports and activities. She liked to tease right up until the end, even with her caregivers and hospice staff. We were very blessed to be loved by her and will dearly miss her.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, John Heard, and cherished daughter, Shannah Heard.
She is survived by her daughters Lisa and husband Mike Sparks, and Johnnie Kay Harrell; grandchildren Megan Jackson, Kevin and wife Jessica Sparks, Karlie Harrell, and Katie Harrell; great-granddaughter Hensley Morgan; and her twin sister Glinda Gomez and husband Leroy, and sister Gail Meadows.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at South West Texas Home Health, Hospice Plus, Forever Young Home, and the many caregivers that took care of Linda along the way.
