Billie Don Carter, 90, of Orange, Texas, passed away on February 18, 2023, peacefully at home with her family around her.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2023, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Mark Bunch. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Born in Orange, Texas, on August 10, 1932, she was the daughter of O. E. Granger and Myrtle (Winfree) Granger. Billie was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She devoted her life to taking care of her family and acted as scout leader and a den mother for her sons. In the summertime Billie enjoyed cutting watermelon by the pool with her family. Billie was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and enjoyed spreading the love of the lord. Billie was a life master bridge player and spent many years competing in softball and bowling leagues. She loved water skiing and even performed in ski shows. Billie also enjoyed scuba diving, her favorite dive being 90 ft. off the coast in Ixtapa, Mexico. Billie will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Lacy Leon Carter; parents, O. E. and Myrtle Granger; and sister, Bobbie Jean Stakes.
She is survived by her sons, Dale Carter and partner Nancy, Mark Carter and wife Ronda, and Danny Carter; grandchildren, Cimaron Carter and wife Sarah, Shaun Carter and wife Summer, Jason Smith and wife Shannon, Melissa Thompson and husband Michael, Heather Carter, Matt Carter and wife Brittney, and Marla McCraken and husband Alex; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Carter, Anna Carter, Gemma Carter, Luke Carter, Kaitlynne Jagneaux, Hunter Smith, Lane Smith, J.S. Bearden, Hutch Bearden, Hallie Bearden, Keenan Thompson, Braylen Carter, Micah Carter, Amelia Carter, and Noah McCraken; as well as other loving family and friends.
