Penny Jo Teal Kumse, 69, of Orange, Texas, passed away on February 24, 2023, in Beaumont, Texas.
Born in Great Lakes, Indiana, on November 23, 1953, she was the daughter of Jesse Joe Teal and Natalie Vivian (Fridley) Teal.
Penny was a woman of great faith who was loved by the Lord and was a member at St. Maurice Catholic Church. She had a passion for doing hair and worked as a hairdresser for most of her life. During her free time, Penny enjoyed being by the water, fishing, and drawing. She also loved dancing and music, especially 70’s Rock-N-Roll and Motown. Penny was witty, funny, and known to be quite the jokester. She always knew how to have a fun time.
Penny was adored by many, including her friends at Optimist Village in Orange. Her memory will live on and always be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Teal and Natalie Teal; husband, Martin “Marty” Kumse; and brothers, David Teal and Michael Teal.
She is survived by her daughter, Rachel Stone and husband, Daniel of Orange; grandchildren, Chase Brumley and wife, Taylor, and Rayce Bagley; great-grandchildren, Brenna Brumley and Sutton Brumley; furbaby, Knuckles; siblings, Leonard Teal and wife, Linda, Yvonne Ansley and husband Tim, Stacy Teal and wife, Rita, Vivian DeJohn and husband, Danny, and Lisa LeBlanc; nieces and nephews, Angela Teal, John Christopher Teague, Clair Teague, Natalie Trevino, Jessica LeBlanc, and Leonard LeBlanc; and numerous other loving family and friends.
A graveside memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.
Officiating will be Father Michael Strother of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Orange.
