Donnie Alon Mires, 86, Bridge City

Donnie Alon Mires, 86, of Bridge City, Texas passed away on March 1, 2023, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2023, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City, Texas. Officiating will be Rev. Father Ernie Carpio, Pastor of St. Henry Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City with the Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. Born in Rosenberg, Texas, on November 2, 1936, he was the son of Donnie R. Mires and Mary Mae (Colligan) Mires.

Donnie graduated from St. Mary Catholic School in Orange. Later, he graduated from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. He loved all sports and in his later years, Donnie’s favorite sport was golf. He enjoyed helping kids in the area and was a tutor at West Orange Stark Independent School District.

Donnie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His loved ones will go on to cherish their memories with him forever.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donnie and Mary Mires; daughter, Aimee Mires; and brother, Jerry Mires.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Caroline (Bergeron) Mires; sons, Henry Alon Mires and wife, Maria of Cypress, Texas, Russell Wayne Mires and wife, Crystal of Bridge City, Texas, and Bowman Trent Mires and wife, Christie of Leander, Texas; grandchildren, Aimee Carter, Ciera Nelson, Christian Mires, Jacob Mires, Brock Youngblood, and Pacie Mires; great-grandchildren, Luca Joseph Carter and Eva Marie Carter; and sister, Carmen Lucia; and brother, Wendell Mires.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or a charity of your choice.
