OHS Class of '73 sets date for reunion and invites other classes to celebrate 50 years with them

This summer, on July 29, the Orangefield High School Class of 1973 will celebrate their class reunion celebrating 50 years 6-11 p.m., at the Bridge City Community Center. Due to friendships and marriages back in the day and many class members that have passed, they are once again inviting students from two classes above and two years below them to join in the celebration.

They are targeting the class range of 1971-1975, but other former Orangefield students are still invited to attend if they would like, even if they don't fall with the years being searched.

"I've already had some of those questions being asked," said Peggy (Stuart) Granger.

It was determined, at the second organizational meeting that was held Monday, that any former students that want to come, may do so.

There were representatives from classes of '72-'75 at that meeting and there were also representatives from 1971 at the meeting held last month at Tequila's Mexican Restaurant in Bridge City.

Several members were charged with heading up different categories.

Sue Ann (Brown) Quinn had a fistful of 70s music CDs on hand. Someone in the room also requested a smattering of 60s music.

Margie (Black) Herrin suggested a DJ was not needed this time.

"No one danced last year," she said.

It was also determined that organizers would each bring finger foods instead of catering a meal, since determining a headcount ahead of time might be difficult.

"We can get a couple of sandwich platters to add to it," said Brenda (Welch) Scales. The event will be BYOB, but acquisition of a Margarita machine was discussed.

Ann (Cornell) Modica was placed in charge of decorations and Granger will take care of the memorial table.

Badges with pictures from the yearbook will be created for those registering ahead of time.

Prices were set pre-event at $15 for singles and $25 for couples and $20 singles/$30 couples at the door.

Scales may be contacted by email at [email protected] or by calling 409-920-6202.

Early admission at the reduced price can be purchased through Venmo by sending to @Ethel-Marchand or contact Scales for an alternate form of payment. Be sure to note your name (including maiden name) and class year so badges can be created.

The next organizational meeting is set for 6:15 p.m., April 17 at the Orangefield Cormier Museum. Anyone that would like to help planning the reunion is free to attend.
