Iva Nell Hogg, 87, of Orange, Texas, passed away on April 8, 2023, in Port Arthur, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Jeff Bell and Kelly Ferguson. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be held prior to the service at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Nell was born in Center, Texas on November 13, 1935, to C.F. “Slim” and Iva Dell (Miller) Tinsley. Nell was the oldest of five siblings. She moved to Orange in 1944, and later graduated from Stark High School in 1953. Nell attended Lamar College and Regents of New York external degree program. She worked for Christus St. Mary and St. Elizabeth as a Registered Nurse and retired after 17 years of service. Since retirement, Nell worked as a substitute teacher at West Orange High School. Most recently, she had volunteered at Orange Christian Services as an interviewer and served as Vice President of the Board. Nell was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her life, whom she loved unconditionally. Nell’s loved ones will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Hogg, Sr.; parents, C.F. “Slim” and Iva Dell (Miller) Tinsley; grandchildren, Sarah Janell Freeman and Scott Wynn Freeman; great-grandson, A.J. Lummus; great-great-granddaughter, Brittany Leann Hogg; and siblings, James F. Tinsley, William E. Tinsley, and Billie Jean Stroud.
She is survived by her son, C.F. “Buster” Hogg and wife, Sharon; daughters, Mamie Ann Johnson and husband, Paul and Kellie Kay Martin and husband, Dan; grandchildren, Jeremy Hogg and wife, Tamina, Michael Hogg, Jr. and wife, Porsha, Stephanie Brianne Pyror and husband, Jim Ed, Holly Ann Lummus and husband, Tony, and Lane Freeman; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Bobby Dale Tinsley and wife, Shelby.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Hogg, Michael Hogg, Jr., Lane Freeman, Jeremy Eckerle, Hunter Johnson, and Joshua Eckerle. Honorary pallbearers are Jake Evan Hogg, Dan Martin, Davey Kade Hogg, Kaden Michael Hogg, and Gabe Dupuy.
