OF Mens Golf headed to state

The Orangefield boys' golf team is going back to state after finishing in second place at the Regional Golf Tournament held April 20-21 in Brenham. The Bobcats actually had the top two golfers with brothers Xander Parks and Lincoln Parks shooting the two lowest scores during the two-day tournament.

On Day 1 Orangefield shot a 335 and improved on Day 2 to shoot a 332 for a total of 667 during the tournament. Diboll took first place with a score of 657 for its two-day total.

Lincoln Parks was tied with Peyton Tupper of Warren for the lead after the first day both shooting a score of 75. Xander Parks was a stroke back at 76 for Day 1. Xander then shot the lowest score of the tournament with a 74 on Day 2 to finish at 150 the best total for the two days. His brother Lincoln had a 78 to complete the two rounds at 153 and take second place.

Three other golfers competed for Orangefield. Ethan Gunter and Reese Johnson shot 182 for the two days. Alex Montz completed the thirty-six holes at 191.

Orangefield will participate in the state tournament which will be held May 22-23. The Class 3A state golf tournament will be conducted at the Jimmy Clay Golf Course in Austin.
