Charles Ray Guilhas, 90, Bridge City

Charles Ray Guilhas, 90, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on June 9, 2023, at Vidor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Vidor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City.

Officiating will be Father Michael Strother. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 12, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Arnaudville, Louisiana, on December 21, 1932, he was the son of Edward Guilhas and Clemence (Gillard) Guilhas.

Ray was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church for many years. He retired from Texaco after 44 years as a pipefitter and was a member of the Texaco Club. Ray enjoyed being outside and loved to go shrimping and fishing, and he also loved gardening. Ray loved to invent new things and made sure everything was precise.

He had a wonderful and caring heart, and helped anyone who needed it, whether he was asked or not. Whenever Ray could he loved to dance, especially the jitterbug.

Ray loved his family very much and he will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clemence Guilhas; brother, Russell Guilhas and wife, Shirley; son-in-law, Greg Smith; and grandparents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy Guilhas; daughters, Arlene Granger and husband, Dennis, Deborah Harris, Terry Smith, and Lori LaRose and husband, Gary; son Chuck Guilhas and wife, Stephanie; grandchildren, Dennis Granger II, Heather Frederick, Brent Granger, Jeremy Korns, Justin Smith, Corey Smith, Zachary Smith, Charles Guilhas III, Danielle Garcia, Kyle LaRose, Keith LaRose, and Kayla Taylor; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Edward Guilhas and wife, Blanche; stepsister, Judy Reed; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Granger II, Jeremy Korns, Justin Smith, Charles Guilhas III, Kyle LaRose, and Brent Granger.

Honorary pallbearers are Corey Smith, Zachary Smith, and Keith LaRose.
