Frank Raymond "Ray" Lormand, Jr.,64, Lumberton,

Frank Raymond “Ray” Lormand, Jr., age 64, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Dorman Funeral Home; interment will immediately follow at King Cemetery. Visitation of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at Dorman Funeral Home.

Ray was born on January 27, 1959, in Orange, Texas, to Wilmer Linscomb and Frank Raymond Lormand, Sr. He enjoyed many adventures while growing up, including exploring, fishing, camping, and hunting. He played baseball throughout childhood then played baseball and football in junior high and high school. He loved playing with his cousins, especially Randy Linscomb who was also his best friend. Ray attended Deweyville schools most of his life, then graduated from Little Cypress Mauriceville. Ray always wanted to be in the military to follow in the footsteps of his Dad and several uncles and joined the United States Army immediately after graduating from high school. He was stationed in Germany for 18 months where he made many lifelong friends. Ray received numerous commendations while in the Army. He was a decorated squad leader, a first-class radio repairman, a marksman, a top notch mechanic, could repair anything that was broken and quickly became the “go to guy” in his unit. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, he resided with his Mom, Wilmer “Cricket” Linscomb until 2021, when she became a resident of Silsbee Oaks Nursing Facility. Ray was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and welcomed anyone he could get to sit down and drink a cup of coffee while watching the Cowboys play. He also loved to go to the casino and shared the kindest heartwarming laugh when he won a few dollars. Ray had a small black dog named Shadow. The Terrier Mix was quite spoiled and was, without a doubt, Ray’s best friend. Ray and Shadow were often seen walking throughout his apartment complex, stopping frequently to check on his neighbors. Ray made a point to call his sister every night to say, “I love you.” Two days after his passing, she discovered several voicemail messages from Ray and feels this is his way of letting her know he is still with her; she plans to listen to the messages every night. Ray is preceded in death by his father Frank R. Lormand Sr.; along with several uncles, aunts, and cousins. Those left to cherish Ray’s memory include his mom, Wilmer “Cricket” Linscomb, of Silsbee; his sister, Josie Smith, of Lumberton; along with several nieces and nephews.
