Shirley Mae Longron Whisenhunt, 75, Orange

Shirley Mae Longron Whisenhunt, 75, of Orange, Texas, passed away on June 9, 2023. Born in Fallon, Nevada, on September 21, 1947, she was the daughter of Howard Joseph Longron and Della Mae Longron. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Orange. She graduated from West Orange High School in 1966 and was voted most beautiful in her class. Shirley continued her education and went on to Lamar University, where she became a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1967, where she worked at Orange Memorial on the pediatric ward. She went on to work as a Private Duty Nurse and later would work at several nursing facilities in the Golden Triangle Area. During her free time, she enjoyed visiting the beach, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, rock and roll music, and watching Alabama Crimson Tide Football. Shirley loved life, loved her friends, and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was outspoken, loving, feisty, and the life of the party. Her great personality will be remembered by many. Shirley will always be in our hearts and our loving mother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Della Longron; and fur baby Celesta (Lesta). She is survived by her children, Robbie Harrison Wall, Tommy “T-Tom” Lynn Harrison, Joseph “Joey” Bradley, Lynn Harrison, and Sydney Denise Gould all of Orange; grandkids, Gerald Paul Lachance of Orange, Meagen Nicole Sowell of Orange, Chas Lynn Harrison of Louisiana, and Hannah Lynn Shawver of Honey Island; four siblings, Sidney (Pap) Longron, Irma Longron Ziriax, Johnny Bob Longron, and Linda Longron McKay all of Orange; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family requests that flowers be sent to 2908 Tammy Circle West Orange, Texas 77630. Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Services for Shirley Whisenhunt will be announced at a later date.
