WOS Fillies rack up camp awards

The West Orange-Stark High School Fillies dance team recently went to UDA (Universal Dance Association) summer training camp and won a number of honors.

The team's home routine took the second place trophy and a superior ribbon. Also, Jojo LeBlanc and Ebonie Joubert were named All-American, with three others nominated, Jayla Simpson-Fobbs, Caterin Flores, and Taylor Provost.

Jo Jo LeBlanc also won the Pin It Forward Award, plus received special recognition. Other team members earning special recognition were Jayla Simpson-Fobbs, LaRiya Nelson, Demarea Warren, and Nevaeh Green.

The team won the trophy for 110 percent energy all week. In the A Routine category, the Fillies received 17 superior ribbons, along with one excellent ribbon.

For Performance Routine, the team was awarded 18 superior ribbons, and in the drill down category, the team received 23 superior ribbons. In addition, the team got squad credentiality certification.

The Fillies will perform at halftime during Mustang football game and will make other appearances during the school year.
