Fundraiser for Fults family
The community is holding a barbecue sale to benefit the Fults family on Saturday, July 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Orange Church of God Embassy of Grace, 1911 16th Street. The Rev. Josh Fults is pastor of First Baptist Church in Orange. Two of their daughters have an inherited genetic disease and mother, Devon, has had surgery for a brain tumor. The fundraiser will help the family with their medical expenses and travel to hospitals. Pulled pork and link plates with sides will be $15 each. Bridge City Band
The Bridge City Cardinal Band will have a fundraiser Thursday, July 27, at Judice's Cajun Cafe on Texas Avenue from 5 to 8 p.m. Ten percent of all restaurant sales will be given to the band to help them go to the Midwest Clinic in Chicago in December.
Mt. Calvary Baptist sets barbecue contest
Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 316 Cypress Avenue in Orange, will be having its second barbecue cookoff competition on August 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entry fee is $75 each and categories will be smoked chicken, pulled pork, and ribs. Special Angels Rodeo selling stuffed potatoes
The Special Angels Rodeo organization, which hosts an annual fall rodeo event for special needs children and adults, is having a baked potato fundraiser on Wednesday, July 26, at Farmers Mercantile in downtown Orange. Barbecue brisket, smoked chicken, or smoked sausage, stuffed into a baked potato will be $12 each. Pre-orders are encouraged because the potatoes will sell quickly. To order, email [email protected].
Orange Chamber to hold purse bingo
The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting another Designer Purse Bingo event to raise money for the chamber. The bingo will be Friday, July 28, at the Orange County Expo Center, 1145 FM 105. Tickets are $60 each and include bingo cards, dinner, two drink tickets, plus a ticket for door prizes. Orange County livestock show set
The Orange County Livestock Association will hold the Sabine River Shootout on August 19 at the T2 Arena, 3810 Old Peveto Road. Thirty buckle awards will be given. Small animals will be judged by weight, while steers will be judged by weight and division, and heifers will be judged by age and division.
